House Rules.
Who, What, Why
I’ve decided I’m writing this year.
Something I’ve noticed about highly technical folks is that they often struggle to get their ideas through.
I’m grateful that I’ve never had a problem with this. Although I’m a hacker by trade, I have always spent a ton of time reading, writing, journaling, and generally having conversations with people around me.
This has often given me the somewhat strange compliment:
“Mu will go far because he’s not just good with tech; he can also talk to people.”
Apparently, that’s a cool combination.
I didn’t realize it until I noticed my roommate, who I consider much farther ahead than me in terms of technical theory, struggling to complete a basic book review for an English assignment at Uni. This happened a few weeks ago, and I know it’s something that I’m going to reference for the rest of my life. I know that some people specialize deeply in one or two things, but to be so gifted at one aspect of life and so just…bad at one as basic as writing seems a bit strange to me.
I'm not sure if it’s arrogance or what, because I’m sure that there are nearly infinite fields that I would definitely struggle with if I were tested on them as rigorously as a “Writing for Engineers” course. Maybe painting? Or singing? Carpentry? Not sure. Anyways.
I’m going to start writing here. I hope to get better.
And maybe share something with you.
I don’t want your money.
I don’t even really need your attention.
I’m writing to share what I’ve learned and hopefully meet other folks doing the same.
Cheers,
μ2
